One Day Tour “Historic Houses of Kent”

The tour includes visiting Chartwell, Hever Castle, Penshurst and an ancient church with Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows.

The route goes through the historic market village of Westerham.

Westerham is associated with some renowned people of Great Britain: Major General James Wolfe, the prime minister Winston Churchill, the last Anglo-Saxon king Harold Godwinson, King Henry VIII.

Chartwell was the home of Winston Churchill from 1924 till 1965. The tour covers the house, the garden and the art studio with many paintings by Churchill.

Hever Castle at some point of its history belonged to the Boleyn family, and is where Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, spent her childhood. At the beginning of the 20th century Hever Castle was restored by the American millionaire William Waldorf Astor, who also created the Italian Garden, one of the finest gardens in England.

Penshurst is a 14th century country house, a former property of Henry VIII, which for the last 460 years belonged to Sidney family. It is the place of birth of a famous English poet of Elizabethan era, Philip Sidney.

And at last, the visit to All Saint’s Church , the only church in the world that has all its windows in stained glass designed by Marc Chagall
